Seen: Usugrow - Learn of Light by Defining a Shadow

Usugrow opened his new solo, Learn of Light by Defining a Shadow, this past Thursday (8.2) at Fifty24SF.  The opening doubled as a release for 'Love Hate from Jp' his new book from Upper Playground.  We couldn't make it, but Kirkland Jue (Toybot Studios)  did and shot a great set of pics (flickr set) including shots of the  SICK original black and white pieces as well as the black proto of Usugrow's upcoming toy with Secret Base.  We're really amped about this piece -- the design rocks with the skull, bandanna and the baggy pants.  The rear detail with the  well-sculpted  paint brushes completes Usugrow's clever take on the Skull and Crossbones motif.  Known for both his black and white pointilism style and his elaborate lettering, we can't help wonder if some of the toy editions will include lettering as part of the design.
