Tokidoki released their new cute grim reaper figures — Adios and Ciao Ciao, designed by Simone Legno and produced by STRANGEco, at Munky King Melrose this past Thursday (6.21). Simone’s tokidoki brand has made him one of the most popular artists in this new art explosion we’re all enjoying– with his personal appearances guaranteeing a packed house. This release lived up to expectations and even exceeded them as Simone signed continually for over four hours (7 PM until just after 11 PM) for the numerous fans and collectors lined up throughout the night.
Short of the Possessed / MK Anniversary party, this was the most crowded I’ve ever seen Munky King — wall to wall people.Simone signed and doodled for fans on almost everything imaginable including Adios and Ciao Ciao, his other toys, sketchbooks, blank canvases, at least one Qee, handbags, and a few lovely ladies. Whether it was one item or five, Simone gladly took the time to chat with fans and doodle on each and every piece. While many fans waited a long time for their turn at the signing table, from their smiles and piles of signed items, it was all more than worth it.
