Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters -- Second Hand Smoke and Mirrors (6.20.07)
Artist couple Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters, have meshed their considerable individual talents for their joint collaborative show -- Second Hand Smoke and Mirrors (flier) opening on Wednesday, June 20th from 6 to 9 PM @ Yves Laroche in Montreal. While both artists have built individual followings, their collaborative pieces bring a new level to their work -- blending styles to create a powerful new aesthetic. Their large number of excellent collaborative and individual pieces for this show, illustrate why Kathie and Brandt are becoming a power couple to watch and collect.

I've been to the exhibition, and while the artists have considerable talent, isn't Kathie Olivas' work a copy of Yoshitomo Nara's? I know I'm not the first one to notice, but this is getting way past mere "influence".
