Seen: Smitten @ Thinkspace (5.11.07)

Smitten featuring five of the hottest rising female painters -- Stella Im Hultberg, Audrey Kawasaki, KuKula, Brandi Milne and Amy Sol -- opened this past Friday at Thinkspace to a packed crowd.  One of the most anticipated shows of the year, most of the pieces sold through online preview to people who had been on the waiting lists for months. Gorgeous work all around.   Someone stopped me and asked why these ladies' art is so popular -- a weird question, but made me realize it's a combination of their tremendous talent and their relatively limited output -- they've been painting for a relatively short time.  As a few people mentioned, it's unbelievable how much talent these five 20 something's have.  Props to Thinkspace for brining these five artists together for a great show.  Missed it?  No worries, the show runs through June 1st.  Be sure to check Thinkspace's online show gallery to view available artwork.
