The Hoodiez by Carl Jones

Noc, Boogie, Flip, Jazz, and Scrapz
The Hoodiez vinyl figures, designed by Boondocks illustrator and producer Carl Jones, from Dreamland Toyworks are cruising towards the States now with an anticipated late April release. The series features five stylin' urban characters: Noc (8"), Boogie (8.5"), Flip (5"), Jazz (8"), and Scrapz (4") will be available in three colorways, standard (1000 pcs of each), grayscale (250 of each), black (250 of each). Part of the power of Carl Jones's art for Boondocks lies in the context -- that of African American youth confronting and commenting on a society and a system that often does not have their best interest at heart. So while one might see his new creation the Hoodiez, as laid back hipsters, perhaps the "oh man" expression on Scrapz's face reveals struggle as well as cool.
Dreamland Toyworks will be launching the Hoodiez on April 28th at Rarebreed (flier) in Philadelphia. A second launch party will be held on May 12th at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles. Come out to help celebrate the new company's first designer toys.
