The third annual I Am 8-Bit Art show / extravaganza opened this past Tuesday (4.17.07) at Gallery 1988 on Melrose to an unbelievable crowd. The line to get into the gallery stretched almost clear down the block for most of the night — definitely the largest turnount so far (bigger than any other show at 1988). As you can imagine it was wall-to-wall people for most of the night, but those who stuck with it saw some great art celebrating the classic 8-bit era of gaming. In addition to the art a 5 foot tall working Atari controller and projection screen in the back parking lot let people experience 8-bit classics on a huge scale. Other highlights included the large Pixelblocks installation designed by Eboy and music from 8-Bit Weapon. Kudos to Jon Gibson and Gallery 1988 (Katie and Jensen) for a great show — the best yet.
In addition to a nice helping of pics for you to flip through we’re also stoked to bring you our I Am 8-Bit ’07 video shot and edited by Ace Carretero It’s available both in low-res and high-res, choose depending on your bandwidth. Look for more video of the LA Art and Toy scene very soon 😉
