Proto Monday >> DOMA Explorer

Happy New Year!  For this holiday edition of Proto Monday we bring you shots of the clay sculpt for DOMA's Explorer part of their upcoming mini series from Kidrobot. Protos vary alot in terms of sculpted detail.  While the Explorer design appears to rely  on painted detail, the clay sculpt  has a nice spacey mecha feel.  DOMA creates designs dripping in colorful graphic wizardry -- we're eager to see what the final figure looks like.

This is a clay sculpt of a *mini-figure*. Seems harsh to condemn it at this point without seeing the the final painted design.

Looks like they made styrene templates, assembled them and then put the clay onto that (kind of like a scale model clay car buck). Is that what I'm seeing here?
