Previews – Mike Burnett’s NeighborWOOD @ Compound (12.7.06)

Yesterday, we introduced Mike Burnett’s wood  custom show, NeighborWOOD, and focused on the process he used to make the wood figures.  After the figures were done, Mike asked 50 international artists to customize his wood creation.   As the show is right around the corner, many artists have already finished their pieces.  So with Mike’s help (sending us pics and more pics!), here’s a mega preview of NeighborWOOD which opens next Saturday December 7th, 2006 @ Compound in Portland, Oregon.  Be sure to click through to the full post to see all the previews.

  1. Thanks for the plug! However, I must correct a glaring omission: Keri Mortimer (whose work can be found at http://www.kerimortimer.com/).
I believe it’s also worth mentioning that Jay Shuster (who made the little, gray robot whose face opens up) was a sketch artist for Pixar’s “Cars” and the man behind the podracers in “Episode 1”. I mention it only because I know that Jay won’t.

  2. Melissa Forman and Brendan totally killed it. Taking stuff to a new level.
Working on the wood surface was so much nicer than painting on vinyl.
I can’t wait to see the rest of them.

  3. Wow! Everyone did such a great job! My personal faves are Yuck, Danyboy, Koa and of course the Pixar guy!
Can’t wait to see more pics of what the rest came up with 😀
