Mike Burnett’s NeighborWOOD @ Compound (12.7.06)

Mike Burnett creates amazing hand-made designer figures out of wood.   He’s applied his passion for creating wood figures to the custom show concept resulting in the NeighborWOOD opening on Thursday December 7th, 2006  @ Compound in Portland, Oregon.  In doing so, he’s turned the concept of custom shows on its ear.  Rather than having artists customize a production figure partly as a means of advertising the toy , he hand-crafted a figure specifically for this show.  After creating his little wooden dude, he invited 50 or so artists to go nuts and they delivered big time.  Today, we’re happy to bring you a look at the finished blank figure as well as some sweet behind-the-scenes "making of" photos.  We’ll be back in a few days with a large number of show previews 😉  Props to Mike for injecting fun back into custom shows.
