Thundermutts are Blowing Up

Released in conjunction with his exhibitions around the world, Tristan Eaton’s Thundermutt vinyl figure is highly sought after by collectors. The Thundermutt 14 project in concjuction with Bernstein and Andriuli  will elevate  Thundermutt to a new level with 10 designs featuring hand-made art objects under the removable Mutt head from ten acclaimed artists.  Art objects?  Like this — Each of Tristan Eaton’s Mutts has a numbered vial of New York rain water collected from the rooftop of Thunderdog Studios. Fresh Idea.

The first five figures by   Gary Baseman, Stephen Bliss, Tristan Eaton, Dave Needham & Andrew Rae will be released  on September 29th @ Neo Studios from 7 to 11 PM.  All five artists will be on hand signing the figures.  The second group of 5 Thundermutts by Kristian OlsonKai & Sunny, Plus Et Plus, Mick Marston,  and I Love Dust will be released in February of ’07 in LA. Each of the Thundermutt 14 figures are limited to 100 pieces each with 50 available at the release event and 50 reserved for Thundermutt Club members.

Because Thundermutts are so limited and released around the globe, it can be quite challenging for collectors to hunt down and purchase ’em.  Enter the Thundermutt Club.  For $300 dollars for a 6 month membership, club members will be able to purchase each and every Thundermutt released  during  the 6 month window and  receive sweet extras such as stickers, prints, and maybe exclusive colorways.  The membership fee reserves the Thundermutts but does not cover the purchase of the figures.  Members are not obligated to purchase the figures but rather have the guaranteed opportunity to do so.  There are only 50 membership slots available on a first come first serve basis.  When they’re gone, they’re gone.  Memberships can be purchased now directly from the Thunderdog Store.

  1. Wholly shit! This club thing is the biggest farce I’ve ever seen. If 50 people do this, that puts $15,000 in Tris’s pocket just for the right to buy his Thundermutts. That’s $30,000 a year!. Whatever. If this works out for these guys, you can kiss toy collecting goodbye. Every company will start this kind of thing. (Who wouldn’t for $30,000 or more a year?) Prints and stickers just don’t cover the steep price. I’ll bet he sells all 50 places. Enjoy your thundermutts.

  2. oh boy oh boy oh boy
lets all line up and give our money away for the right to buy mediocre toys!
could this possibly be any more stupid?

  3. he got some hot toys, but i can’t give this fool 300.00 every six month’s + cost of the mutt…I don’t think he will sell all spots that quick…I know that kid with the tmutt tat got one…what a nut rider….I don’t think Tris have one….
