Dongo Toys from Simon Boses
Simon Boses produces hand-made ceramic designer art figures under his Dongo Toys brand. Dongo (Swahili for "made from clay") Toys are slip cast from liquid clay and range in size from 2" to 6" currently. Three open-edition series are currently available: 2" Kinyago ("friend"), wall-mountable Jira ("seed") and the larger Ulamali ("Black Magic") dolls. If you're looking for well-designed, hand-crafted pieces, these seem worthy of a look. For more info and to purchase check out dongotoys.com. Also visit Simon's personal site to see more of his sculpture art. Pictured above are the Ulamai Dolls which are similar to voodoo dolls and come in both negative (curse) and positive (blessing) incantations: Bad Hair (blue) and Grow Taller (brown).
