Pics: Joe Ledbetter — Attack of the Mutant Bunnies

Joe Ledbetter’s solo show, Attack of the Mutant Bunnies, opened at Gallery Nineteen Eighty Eight from 7 to 10 PM this past Tuesday (07.11.06) to joyous fans of Mr. Bunny.  If you love Mr. Bunny (yes, you!), then there was something there for you. Mr. Bunny slaying the dragon, getting rejected on a factory line, Air Bunny and more…   Oh, there were also three guest pieces by Greg "Craola" Simkins, Thomas Han, and Luke Chueh — all done for JLed’s private collection. he majority of the pieces hovered around the $800 mark with only a few larger pieces.  By 8:00 PM or so almost all the pieces had sold ‘cept for a Ms. Bunny flashing some boobies — kinda surprising this one didn’t sell quickly as well.  The crowd was pretty chill though it was a Tuesday which is a tough night to get folks to come out.

A note on the pictures — I’ve cropped the majority of the pics since I had many, many off-centered pics with partial frames.  Rest assured that with I think the exception of the two large vertical companion pieces, all the other paintings were nicely framed.  In terms of star power,  Joe Ledbetter, Luke Chueh, Craola, and Thomas Han were in the house.  Beyond Joe’s art, everyone seemed to be buzzing about SDCC — exactly one week away now 😉
