Steven Lee's Carbots Roll off the Line in July
After a long and winding development process, Steven Lee's Carbots are almost here. While he previously released 40 each of special all black and all white editions, the first designed production-run Carbots will be released in July. Steven Lee has been in the designer toy game for a long time and hasn't really gotten his due IMO considering he created the original keychain Qee series for Toy2R.
The Carbot from Steven House is far and away his coolest creation to-date. Pictures don't really do this figure justice but check out all the detail on both the car and the 'bot body. The sculpt is excellent -- cute yet technically detailed. Some other quick notes... The car can be removed from the body for extra display possibilities. The car cockpit has feet indentations to accomodate a "driver" ;-) And perhaps most importantly, this toy is a joy to hold. It feels right. It's soft vinyl down to the little arms and the articulated robotic pincer hands.
We'll have more pics soon, but until then enjoy the pics of two of the upcoming designs and a close-up look at one of the early hand-scribbled-on all-white editions.
