Show Pics: Mini Circus Punks Series 2 Release @ KR LA
STRANGEco's Mini Circus Punks Series 2 was released at Kidrobot LA this past Thursday. While I got there a little late (after Baseman's GR2 signing across town), there was still a good crowd on-hand waiting to meet series artists Greg "Craola" Simkins, Simone Legno (tokidoki) and Joe Ledbetter. Each artist went out of their way to sign whatever fans wanted from Munnys (always popular), paper bags, dollar bills (plus at least one ten), at least one arm (missed the pic, rats), and oh yeah an occassional Mini CP (probably more earlier on). This was a nice laid back event thanks to the ace KR staff. Great to see the artists, CP Paul again, Amy, Henry and to meet Emily from STRANGEco and Bob Dob. Fun times. Enjoy the pics.

Gwin Series 2 @ SDCC
Almost exactly a year after the introduction of Series 1, Gwin Series 2 will drop at SDCC from October Toys (booth #4535). This follow-on series of lovable penguin figures features seven designs pictured above (l to r) by Kruse, El Maz, Alex Pardee, Christie, Charlotte Link, Voltaire and C. Spliedt. Each design is limited to 400 pieces and available for pre-order at gwinarmy.com for $10 per figure or $63.00 for all seven. Our pick for creative design is Dragwin by Charlotte Link which rorates the figure on it's back to create a Dragon's head.
SUG 503 Custom Show @ Compound (07.06.06)
The imposing yet curious SUG from Unklbrand hasn't gotten much due but it's one of our favorite toys. The SUG 503 custom show opening on July 6th @ 7PM at Compound in Portland looks to rekindle interest in the figure.

Lions, Tigers and Bears @ Wootini (7.14.2006)
Fear. It comes in many shapes and forms and we all deal with it differently. In his curatorial debut, David Hyuck, asks over 30 artists to confront and give shape to their fears for Lion, Tigers and Bears which opens on Friday, July 14th from 7 PM to Midnight at Wootini and continues through September 4th.

Tetsujin 28, Japan's original giant robot, is about to make a big impact. People are probably a bit in shock after the news and debut pics on Barracuda (ultra swanky Melrose Ave. lifestyle boutique) x Tetsujin 28 on Jamie O'shea's Supertouch blog. Here's a little more info on this sweet toy. Standing at 3 feet tall, Tetsujin 28 is a must have vinyl figure for fans of old-school robots and designer toy collectors. Vinyl is going big and T-28 ups the ante a few notches. Limited to 888 pieces (inclusive of all editions), this will be a highly sought after toy so stay on your toes!
