Tristan Eaton’s Women

Your Momma by Tristan Eaton

Awww yeah! 2006 is going to be amazing.  So rewind back to Juxtapoz’s 2004 Summer Street Art issue with a feature article on Tristan Eaton.  Beyond the early Skumbo drawings, his African Queen and urban mother in curls paintings were amazing.  Ever since then I’ve been wondering and hoping…  They’re almost here!  Through his Thunderdog Studios label, Tristan is loosening the reigns and unleashing Your Momma and Zulu Queen on collectors who perhaps have grown tired of an overdose of achingly sweet toys.  Both of these pieces are sure to make people look twice and then again — just as it should be.  While the overall sculpts are similar each figure has its own vibe.  Your Momma puts a  new twist on the toy-in-toy concept.  Zulu Queen is breathtaking with a jarring mix of tribal and urban rolled into a bold statement.    The Zulu Queen is right at the very top of my most wanted list.
