Toys Meet Fashion: Huck Gee’s Skullheads

L to R: Dries Van Noten, Duckie Brown, Jill Sander (rear), Marc Jacobs (front), & Rick Owens
Huck Gee’s recently released  Skullhead project  involves a direct mixing of toy and fashion design to very stunning effect.  This is a joint project between Kidrobot and Barneys New York in conjunction with five top fashion designers:  Marc Jacobs, Jil Sander, Dries Van Noten, Rick Owens, and Duckie Brown.  Huck’s lovable skullhead character has moved from adorable 2-inch dunny to impressive 12-inch figure clothed in authentic miniature apparel from each of the participating designers’ spring 2005 line. These limited figures which retail for $295.95 directly from Kidrobot and Barneys New York come in numbered boxes loaded with accesories including rings, bracelets, a sword, and even a velvet storage bag!    The clothes are of course top-notch, but I’m particularly impressed with the sculpt ‘s detail as seen in the figures’  head, wings, and  torso. Thanks to Huck himself for the nice group shot of the entire Skullhead line!
